Will carrying a snake in a pouch (like a sugarglider's) around your neck hurt the snake in any way?
I was going to take my pet ball python, whom is only about a foot and a half long, in a pouch to a small family get together for Christmas, but was unsure as to whether or not this would hurt her. I would be sure to mist her before placing her in the pouch, and will of course be handling her plenty.
I can assure you that as long as you are careful not to mishandle or sit or step on the pouch it will be just fine.I have many times, several times on airlines even cross country with a South American Boa Constrictor.In addition, being in the dark does keep the snake peaceful and there is no need to worry as long as you take care not to mishandle it.I have also done it with a Ball Python in a knapsack, however, not cross country. Do Not Worry. Just be careful. =)
Also, it would be a good idea to make sure she had ample oppurtunity to drink and that she was fed
recently for her own well being and comfort.However, if you feed her right before you leave (within a day or 2) you may find a surprise in your pouch. lol So feed her well before you leave, and let her pass it first,just so you dont.
I live in San Diego so the temps here are mild all year long.
If you live somewhere cold it could be very dangerous. if you dont, keep her warm.
